Ellen has been drawing and painting for most of her life; many collectors in the northeast and beyond have acquired her work. Her recent work has included a number of landscape/portrait combinations done at the request of Newburyport area patrons.

Ellen is known for turning up the volume on some colors, juxtaposing intense colors with neutral hues to create her own unique harmonies. She is a very direct painter, who loves the sensual qualities of paint and seeks to translate experiences more immediately. Some of her latest influences, in spirit as well as craftsmanship, have been Charles Parness with whom she studied, Hoffman, Fairfield Porter, Alice Neel, and Deibenkorn.

Ellen has a Fine Art Degree in Painting from the University of Massachusetts and is the Art teacher at the Hood School and High School in North Reading.

Ellen would like to dedicate her work this year to Change and moving through Changes with Grace.

Ellen's art is carried regularly by Chameleon Gallery in Newburyport, MA
